About Us

Summary of Chateau de med

Our objective is to promote the finest Mediterranean products without sacrificing taste and quality.

It all began with an idea and passion for Mediterranean goods. Noticing the lack of choice and quality of Mediterranean goods available in the local market, we realised our commitment to offer high quality Mediterranean goods to our customers.

We at Chateau de Mediterranean pride ourselves in our devotion to our consumers. We believe in creating an extraordinary product choice and we search only for the finest suppliers of Mediterranean products in order to provide our customers with a world class taste. On behalf of the whole of the Chateau de Mediterranean family we would like to share the Mediterranean tradition from our family to your table. As our business continues to grow the Mediterranean tradition lives on. Explore the tastes of the Mediterranean with the Chateau de Mediterranean range of products via our website www.chateaudemed.co.uk and on our Amazon shop www.amazon.co.uk/chateau_de_med.

Baklawa

As baklawa lovers we were disappointed to find that this type of cake/dessert was only available at Christmas in a few supermarkets. Over and above the product could be weeks or even months old. Therefore we began our business by introducing freshly made baklawa to our online customers. We despatch each order from the freshly baked produce every day. This has proved to be very popular and we are pleased to say that the baklawa can and does travel very well through the postal service. If there are ever any issues with the delivery or the product itself we are more than happy to resolve any concerns that customers may have.

Speciality Roasted Nuts

After the success of the baklawa we introduced freshly roasted nuts. This works in the same principal as the baklawa. Each order is shipped from a batch of freshly roasted nuts. The nuts are roasted by using a special Mediterranean process of salts where no oil is used and the nuts remain dry and crispy, unlike supermarket varieties which are roasted in oil, taking away from the taste of the natural product.

Lebanese Fine Wine

Unique wines from an ancient tradition

We also offer award winning Lebanese wine, wine which is now becoming prominent amongst wine lovers throughout the world.

The wines of Lebanon are unique expressions from a country with an ancient wine-making culture, as vines have been cultivated from Lebanon's high altitude Bekaa Valley for over 6,000 years.

From around 4,500 BC, the sea-faring Phoenicians (ancestors of the modern Lebanese) distributed their wines and vines throughout the Mediterranean, travelling as far as Cadiz(and possibly beyond) in their robust cedar boats. Their resilience in the face of repeated invasion gave rise to the legend of 'The Phoenix'.

The region's wines are mentioned many times in the bible, with the first recorded evidence of wine transactions coming from Byblos ('book' in Greek, hence 'Bible') an historic fishing port north of Beirut.

The country's favourable geographical and climatic conditions have always held abundant promise.

Forming part of the Fertile Crescent where agriculture originated around 10,000 years ago, this area was among the first to benefit from the formal cultivation of grapes.

At 34 degrees N of the equator, the Centre of the Bekaa Valley is further south than any part of Spain or Italy and as such gets its fall share of sunshine during the summer months. The Lebanese vineyards are blessed in two ways: they are situated at relatively high altitudes, (around 1,000 meters above sea level) and have just the kind of calcareous, gravel and stone soils that encourage the production of high quality grapes.

Vineyards at this altitude benefit from cool night and seasonal temperatures (it often snows on the vines in the winter and summer can be wearingly hot) resulting in longer ripening periods. Vines thrive in this pure 'alpine' environment requiring little or no intervention to remain healthy.

Nablus Soap Natural Handmade Soap

Nablus use the cold process method of making soap. The gentleness of olives is combined with the strength of the laurel which is known and used for its great benefits for skin and hair. It nourishes and softens the skin and the hair and helps in healing skin wounds and infections. It also nourishes the hair roots. The soap is 100% natural and made of pure vegetable oils and it is free from any chemical perfumes, colours or animal fats. During the drying process, the colour of the soap changes to a yellow/beige outer crust and a rich greener part can be seen on the inside once it is cut.

Pricing

There may be some changes in the prices occasionally especially with regards to the roasted nuts and the baklawa as the world market price of the nuts is not always stable and prices fluctuate from time to time. We only use high quality nuts and this is reflected in the price.
